MOVIE REVIEW:
“Someday” is an excellent, captivating 16 episodes
of beautiful cinematography integrated with drawing sketches,
animation etc. In addition, the strong cast consists of Bae
Doo Na (Blockbuster movie, “The
Host”) and charismatic Kim Min Joon (“Lovers
in Prague”). The other two co-stars, Lee Jin Wook and
Oh Yoon Ah (“Alone in Love”) have proven themselves
to be not the least being outshone by the formers.
“Someday”
is a production of good quality and definitely with a sense
of novelty in comparison with other typical Korean drama series.
It is comparably touching to the hearts of the audience with
its realistic yet beautifully presented the different aspects
of contemporary love relationships.
Bae
Doo Na, in this drama, is a Korean-Japanese cartoonist Hana
Yamaguchi, who does not believe in love at all after being
abandoned by Mum since childhood. But the window to her heart
is gradually and unknowingly opened by Kim Seok Man (Lee Jin
Wook), a diligent private detective with a tragic past. Who,
between Kim Seok Man and Go Jin Pyo (Kim Min Joon), a doctor,
is the destined key holder of her heart? Or would Hana continue
to stay firm in her belief of non-existence of love?
There,
she embarks a journey for the first time that returns her
to the real world of love. For a long time, her fantasy and
drawings had been her safety net and comfortable blanket.
She can now finally begin to understand it through the process.
Hye-Young
(Oh Yoon Ah), a capable project director, maintains an ambiguous
relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Go Jin Pyo. Is this her
form of self-deception that she no longer likes him yet amicably
remains to be good platonic soul-mates? How would she react
to Jin Pyo’s affectionate feelings towards Hana?
Well,
a love quadrilateral in Korea drama story is always typical
but miraculously, it is such plot that continues to hook the
audience. So does “Someday”.
The
soundtracks of “Someday” are melancholically pleasing
to the ears too. The sadness in the main soundtrack song reminds
me of “Autumn Love Story” – equally sentimentally
touching.
