MOVIE REVIEW

Whatever naughty fantasies you horny little boys out there have about Thailand as a sexual wonderland, they will be confirmed with this movie. The only thing is, you need to be 18 and above to get this VCD from the stores.

Men – you’d never know what they are really like. The movie is about different men in different careers and status who come together in the name of Club X to enjoy pornographic videos and stories. The police has a difficult time tracking down these sickos, until one female agent decides to sacrifice herself to play bait to the club.

Sounds like one big sexual adventure that will excite the boys? For the first half of the movie, yes, you’d be thrilled to see how voyeuristic these men can get just to bring pleasure to themselves. Needless to say, some viewers, especially the female ones, will find this offensive.

Then the 110-minute movie becomes a standard cop-chase-thief action drama, with all the predictable “turns and twists”. As a result, this Thai import feels a little too long not tightly focused enough.

Director Thanakorn Pongsuwan knows that eye candy is important for a movie like that, and chooses the endearing Leo Putt and Theeradanai Suuwannahom as the leading men, and the fiery Bongkoj Kongmalai as the poor girl who has to infiltrate Club X.

To be fair, there are a few nicely executed camera shots, which show how far the Thai industry has progressed these few years. Now, if only they can find a particular genre which can uniquely identify their nationality.

We don’t know about you, but the sex genre is definitely one possible direction to explore.
