                    SOUNDTRACK REVIEW:
The next best thing to dancing like a pro on the dance floor is, well, blasting dance tunes in our humble bedrooms, imagining that the party of our lives are taking place with the oh so happening music. So here we have the soundtrack to the third movie of the very successful Step Up movie franchise, and we also have the perfect excuse to irritate our cranky neighbours with 49 minutes of music that has to be heard to know how much it scores on the happening meter.
Kicking off the album is the very catchy “Club Can’t Handle Me (Featuring David Guetta)” performed by American rapper Flo Rida. The repetitive tune is so hearth thumpingly good, we can put it on repeat mode for 30 continuous minutes and no one would complain. Up next is the theme from the movie “My Own Step (Featuring Fabo)” performed by Roscoe Dash and T. Pain, a new single which captures the give me “a dance move a minute” spirit of the movie. The underground street dancing scene of the movie is also brought alive by other tracks performed by today’s pop artistes like acclaimed recording performer producer Trey Songz (the cool too to be true “Already Taken”), the up and coming Laza Morgan (with the very suave “This Girl”) and electro funk duo Chromeo (the cool and accessible “Fancy Footwork”). Elsewhere, the popular Jesse McCartney makes his presence felt with “Up”. If you are familiar with edgier dance tunes, this radio friendly recording may be, err, child’s play for you. We were well entertained by R&B singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer Estelle’s “Freak (Featuring Kardinal Offishall)” and hip hop indie music duo N.A.S.A.’s “Whachadoin? (Featuring Spank Rock, M.I.A., Santigold & Nick Zinner)”. While we aren’t experts in dance music, we can tell these tracks would have us seeing some serious booty shaking, that is, if we step onto the dance floor any time soon.
                    ALBUM RATING:
