SYNOPSIS:
On Christmas Eve, Pooh and the gang finds one of Santa's reindeer
tangled in a string of jingle bells. Fearing that Santa won't
be able to deliver presents without his reindeer, they set
off to return the deer to the North Pole. When they get stranded,
they build shelter to spend the night, and learn that the
spirit of Christmas is all about being together!
MOVIE REVIEW:
Forgive me, our loyal website readers, for I have
been lazy. What should have been a review to be read before
Christmas has become a post-new-year review instead. Now,
the young ones at home will have to wait a whole 12 months
before this festive DVD is wrapped up as a gift by those who
are actually genuinely interested in pleasing their kids.
But there is no harm planning your presents early in the year
right? Besides, wholesome presents like this are evergreen
– you can get them for your loved ones anytime of the
year!
A
production from the pre-school channel Playhouse Disney, this
44-minute feature tells the story of what happened to the
Hundred Acre Wood gang one day before Christmas. They realize
that Santa’s magic toy sack is missing, and there is
a lost reindeer in the woods too. How much time do they have
to save Christmas? Before the movie ends, of course!
Well-loved
characters like the plump but cute Winnie the Pooh, the energetically
bouncy Tigger, the hectically hilarious Rabbit, the slow and
pessimistic Eeyore and the adorabley huggable Roo get together
for this adventure that will please the young ones at home.
There is also a red-haired girl named Darby, her puppy named
Buster and a purple elephant named Lumpy who join in the adventure.
Based on the animation television series on the cable channel,
this movie will be a joy to watch, not only to those aged
2-6, but also young adults like me who, well, hasn’t
grown up.
Who
can resist the catchy song that celebrates Christmas Eve the
moment the movie begins? Who can resist the nostalgically
pleasing voices of Winnie, Tigger, Eeyore and the rest of
the gang? And who can resist the wholesome themes of celebrating
friendship, sharing and caring?
The
young ones will be thrilled whenever characters from the movie
“speak directly” to them. You can expect the kids
to happily shout out their answers in unison, and looks of
joy and delight when the 3D-rendered characters actually reciprocate
their responses. Along the way, the kids learn and are kept
out of trouble. What more can adults ask for?
So,
there you have it: Reasons why I should be forgiven for submitting
this review late. Who cares if Christmas only comes once a
year? Go out there and get this DVD for your kids now (if
they haven’t pestered you for it already) – trust
me, they will be very happy.
