SYNOPSIS:

What in your past would you do differently if you could? We all have our regrets but what if you found yourself back in the moment you most regret A Heartful of Love portrays a group of characters that return to such moments and find the chance to alter the past. Hiroshi Suzutani, a 30 year old advertising executive who returns on business to his childhood hometown of Moji in Kyushu. Visiting Moji for the first time in decades, Hiroshi discovers that the port city is exactly as he remembers it; the buildings, the narrow streets and even the inn his grandmother once owned are completely unchanged. While standing outside his old home, Hiroshi encounters a young boy and is stunned to see it is his 10 year old seld, Hiro. He also meets Kazumi, a young woman whose memory he has always cherised, though he knows she was gravely ill.

MOVIE REVIEW

The premise and concept behind this pseudo science-fiction romance drama is interesting enough. But coupled with mostly plastic activity and a poorly written script (not to mention some unconvincing special effects), A Heartful of Love seemed to be heading for mediocrity and disaster. We wonder why such films are even made.

The writing is poor indeed. The potentially interesting stories regarding the supporting actors are side stepped and become mere extended cameos. They serve little purpose to the plot and are easily replaced.

Granted, the film does have some ‘heartful’ moments (for example, the reunion of an old lady with her pet dog) and at least the actors were all really playing the violin. Other than that, this film would be just another film that will go unnoticed in the annals of filmmaking.

I am still pondering.
