ALBUM REVIEW:
My Name is Earl is one of my favourite drama series, its blend
of slacker humour and do -goody feel hitting all the right
notes for me. The album for the show, a delightful mix of
Southern rock and blues and classic dance-rap, isn't too far
off the mark as well.
Headlining
the Southern influence in the album is Harry Nilsson's wacky
"Joy", John Hiatt's cover of the John Lennon "Instant
Karma" and Jerry Reed's "East Bound and Down".
Classic rap tunes such as Young MC's "Bust a Move"
and Rob Base and DJ E-ZRock's "It Takes Two" are
pretty good to bop your head to as well.
While
snippets of dialogue from the series are included in the album
the real gem is "99 Red Balloons" with Earl Hickey
providing the vocals on that one.
