SOUNDTRACK REVIEW:
This reviewer remembers one certain unassuming weekend afternoon when he was minding his own business in a crowded shopping centre, walking around leisurely. Suddenly, his eardrums were bombarded by loud music blasting from the complex’s speaker system. And that was when he realizes that catchy (and almost deafening) pop music like that probably increases one’s urge to shop, shop, shop.
And with this soundtrack album to the movie about a shopaholic’s extravagant lifestyle, you can bet you would want to put this collection of songs on your mp3 player while you are out there to shop, shop, shop.
Kicking off the 46 minute disc is Jordyn Taylor’s uber hip “Accessory”, which will make you want to own every piece of colourfully shiny accessory on the shelves. Following that is Lady Gaga’s trendily upbeat “Fashion”, which will make you imagine that you are a catwalk model sashaying down the aisle. Jessie James’ “Blue Jeans” is a modish tune to swing your hips to while Adrienne Bailon’s “Uncontrollable” is a vogue cue to flash those poses of yours.
The energy doesn’t stop there. With Kat DeLuna’s thumping songs “Calling You” and “Unstoppable”, as well as Pussycat Doll’s ultra techno “Bad Girl”, the continuous stretch of such songs will make you feel like you’ve just had a long night out there partying with your hip friends.
Which is why, calming songs (read: slower in pace) “Again” by Natasha Bedingfield, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Greg Laswell and “Don’t Forget Me” by Macy Gray are a welcome to soothe those gentle nerves. The last thing you’d want to suffer a heart attack when your credit card bill arrives, and you realize how much you have spent, spent, spent – thanks to these shopping friendly tunes you which bombarded your eardrums during that faithful shopping trip.
