BOOK REVIEW #29: THE ART OF IRON MAN: 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Before Captain Marvel makes her first grand appearance and before Avengers: Endgame marks the closure of the first chapter of the immensely popular MCU. It’s time to look at where it all started: The Art of Iron Man (10thanniversary edition).

With a new foreword by Louis D Esposito, Executive Producer on all Marvel Studios productions and a new fanciful slipcase, this handsome, hardcover 208 pages re-released edition is packed with lots of behind-the-scenes content of the 2008 movie that is of course you didn’t owned a copy of the original.

In other words, if you have never come across this Titan published book before, this is the perfect time to acquaint yourself with the different conceptual art (Mark 1, 2 etc) and photos, all printed in lavish stunning colours accompanied with highly-detailed information researched and written by John Rhett Thomas.

There’s also generous pictures of the different stages of visual effects render by ILM and incredible physical props done by Legacy Effects, the Studio founded by the late effects’ guru, Stan Winston. Key players liked Marvel head honco Kevin Feige, director Jon Favreau and many talented artistes who worked on the project also gave their valuable inputs.

Before you got the wrong idea, this is NOT a comprehensive, complete Iron Man book that covers both the sequels as well. Undoubtedly, there’s sure going to be one in future but as at now, just relax and takes a nostalgic journey of how the MCU started its run.
