SOUNDTRACK REVIEW:

While I’m not always tickled by Will Ferrell’s antics, I take my hat off the actor who has the courage to sport such a hairdo for a movie. I mean, Mr. Ferrell, you aren’t exactly the best looking actor around (I try my best to be humble here), and with big hair like that, you definitely have earned my respect. And it definitely helps that you rock the balls off every listener with your “Love Me Sexy” on this funk-filled soundtrack.

The opening track of this 57-minute album is Jackie Moon’s (Ferrell) chart-topping song. In the movie, the one-hit wonder wishes to use the profits from this song to fulfill the dream of owning a basketball team. With rollicking lyrics like “Love Me Sexy”, “Lick Me Sexy”, “Suck Me Sexy” and “Humping Sexy”, it’s difficult not to love this hilariously comical song. And before you report this website to the authorities for posting lewd content online, that’s what the 1970s is all about, baby.

The rest of the songs contained on this compilation will bring back merry memories of those golden years when hair was big, shorts were short and people were generally happier.

The familiar “Lady Marmalade” by American R&B and soul group Labelle, “Why Can’t We Be Friends” by WAR & Dreams and Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be) by Sly & The Family Stone will ring a bell to younger listeners because of the many cover versions performed by contemporary artistes. Meanwhile, old time favourites like funk saxophonist Ronnie Laws’ “Tell Me Something Good”, soul music group Chairmen of the Board’s “Give Me Just A Little More Time” and American funk singer Curtis Mayfield’s “Move on Up” are signature big band tunes which marked music from the 1970s.

For all things fun, huge and merry, get this soundtrack album – Jackie Moon is waiting to “Love You Sexy”.
