REVIEW
If you enjoy hearing people speak into your ear with the most
intimate manner, then this soundtrack album is for you. The
narrated tracks on this 30-minute disc have the multi-talented
Rene Liu and good-looker Louis Koo providing some affecting
voiceovers that are nothing short of quote-worthy.
A
personal favourite is the concluding 38-second track “To
Be Continued” where Liu uses her magnetic and attractive
voice to tell us that fictional stories and life in reality
imitate each other, and life is never going to provide any
concrete answers because it is always to be continued.
Very
philosophical, very inspirational indeed.
There
is also the melancholic theme song performed by Liu which
infuses a quietly heartrending melody with the birthday tune
we are all familiar with. With lyrics by the acclaimed Lin
Xi and the music composed by Chan Fai Young, the result is
a piano-emphasized song which reflects on the bittersweet
memories of love everyone can connect with.
The
rest of the album is filled with score tracks composed by
Chan. The abundant use of piano and the occasional cello makes
the soundtrack very accessible to the casual listener.
Included
in the very pretty package is a CD-Rom where you can view
Liu’s music video for the theme song, as well as a very
adorable Flash movie based on the film. To make your money’s
worth, there are also several downloadable content which will
liven up your computer.
If
your loved one’s birthday is round the corner, this
is definitely one very apt gift you can consider. Show him
or her you still remember, tell him or her you still care.
We are sure this little gesture goes a long, long way.
