BOOK REVIEW:

How do you make a normal gross-out rodent to be cute and adorable?

This question and many more are answered in “The Art of Ratatouille”, the latest animation extravaganza from the industry powerhouse, Pixar. Set in the glamourous French capital Paris, it’s a touching story of a rat whose desire is to become a chef!

"Ratatouille" is directed by Brad Bird who brought you Pixar’s earlier hit, “The Incredibles” and “The Iron Giant”.

Continuing the tradition of the past Pixar titles, the book itself contains a lavish display of sketches done digitally and also in markers and feature images of life-like oil clay sculptures of the various characters. The rich amount of artwork done prior to the final digital finishes is simply astonishing. At least, you learnt that not everything could be done with a click of a mouse and keyboard.

Bird and his team of talented artistes has once again marveled us with their immerse passion for their job and created a fictional world in which the audience can’t wait to ogle when the movie opens this July.

CHOICE XCERPT:

"Shakespeare comedies are always about someone pulling a fast one on some other people, trying not to be discovered. That's what this is- but with rats"

VERDICT:

Not targetted for the kiddy crowd, it's another thumbs-up addition to the Pixar series! Get this to add on to your current collection.
