REVIEW :
I
should have seen it coming. But I could not resist the urge.
The moment I got a seat on the packed public transport home,
I had to take out this disc to take a closer look. And then
it happened: people around me started giving me strange stares.
I decided
to be brave. The disc remained in my hands, and the beautiful
girls on the cover were all smiling so gorgeously, I swear
they were my inspiration for holding on to the disc in public.
Featuring
the sensuous Maggie Q, the sweetie-pie Chi-Ling and eight
other eye-candy from Asian countries like India, Thailand,
Japan and Indonesia, this 90-minute feature takes viewers
to Langkawi, Malaysia on a fashion photo shoot helmed by renowned
photographer Leslie Kee.
Needless
to say, it will be pure heaven for the boys.
The girls
will be introduced one by one, complete with their vital statistics,
hobbies, and interests. To make things more in-depth (and
probably to justify why this feature should be produced as
a DVD), we get to hear the girls’ views on love, and
some really naughty talk (our friends at the censorship talk
actually passed it with a PG rating?) about sex.
Told you
this would make the boys really happy. We shall avoid the
potentially touchy issue of whether this feature is demeaning
to the girls, and launch into some lengthy issue of sexism
and discrimination. We just want to have fun, don’t
we? Besides, it all see and no touch.
Then there
are the breathtaking sceneries of Langkawi that will make
us sad city dwellers want to leave our urban lives behind.
The pretty girls only make it more delectable. Someone stop
me from going gaga over the girls already.
If there
is one thing that irks this reviewer, it’d be the tacky
voiceover. It is obvious the voiceover talent is trying to
inject some fun and emotion into his voice acting, but the
script is so cheesily written, it makes a rather irritating
listening experience. It does not help that we kept hearing
those cheeky moans and howls from the voiceover guy.
Of
course, it may just be a case of jealousy over objectivity
on this reviewer’s end.
This is also one feature where you can just leave your player
on in the background while you do your chores at home. It
is basically a montage of pretty pictures which do not require
your constant attention. You can simply return to the previous
chapter if you missed it. It may also be due to the simple
fact that you want to check out that girl again.
For this
reviewer, he had the player on in the wee hours of the night,
while he constantly checked behind his back. That did not
affect his review of the disc.
He
just wanted to make he wasn’t spied on.
SPECIAL
FEATURES :

Yes,
the producers of this DVD spoil us mere mortals further by
providing us a whole disc-ful of extra features
Behind The Scene – More footage is seen in
this 18-minute reel, where the 10 models are chaptered nicely
into their 10 individual segments. Some provocative poses
are seen, some sound-bites about how beautiful Malaysia is
are heard - but it is nothing really too insightful. Nice
accompaniment music though.
Model and Crew Introduction – Hey, we saw this
10-odd minute clip in disc 1, except that it is taken from
different camera angles. Basically it is just Leslie Kee talking
about the girls, praising them from top to bottom in a distinctively
Singaporean accent.
End of Production – The 12-minute clip is shot
home-video style at a wrap party where the host talks really
loudly, asking everyone to “get some drinks” and
not to “care about the camera”. The point of this
clip is probably to make boys wish they were there, that’s
all.
Trailers – Interesting how the producers actually
included three trailers for this project. Maybe they wish
to broadcast it on national television or in the cinemas.
Music Video – You know it is serious
business when there is a –odd minute music video for
this feature. More pretty visuals, more pretty poses, more
pretty girls!
AUDIO/VISUAL:

Beautiful
images should be accompanied by a beautiful visual transfer,
and that is thankfully achieved. Check out both the English
and Mandarin voiceovers if you want to be irked twice over.
The hip music soundtrack for the feature can be blasted on
your home theatre system, with some really inviting visuals
for your next boys’ night out.
