Summertime is here again! Accompanied by the "kaching" of the cash registers and the tantalizing aroma of popcorn, it’s the Invasion of the Hollywood Blockbusters once again! A sequel or a remake? Something old or something new? Which movie should you watch? Spoilt for choice? Let Team MovieXclusive roll out the red carpet for our top ten choices of the summer and here they are in order of popularity.

  10. Over the Hedge

Bruce Willis is a raccoon who leads a bunch of timid animals out of the forest and over the hedge, to explore the human suburban.

It’s not only an animated comedy. We also think it’s a metaphorical film that illustrates the uncertainties of globalization and the challenges of integration.

  9. Miami Vice:

Back in the 80s, before there was NYPD Blue, Miami Vice was the police drama to catch on TV. Now, almost 20 years later, the creator, Michael Mann is back with an updated version of his gritty drug busting police drama set in sunny South Florida.

Joining him is Oscar Winner Jamie Foxx and heartthrob Colin Farrell who recaptures the spirit of the respective iconic characters Det. Ricardo Tubbs and Det. James 'Sonny' Crockett.

8. Cars:

Cars marks the return of Pixar’s head honcho, John Lasseter as director. On this outing, he brings us on a road trip with Lightning McQueen, an arrogant rookie racecar on its way to the racetrack and perhaps a lesson in humility.

Thus far, every Pixar movie has never failed to entertain us. We believe, neither will this.

  7. Lady in the Water:

Trying to match the success of The Sixth Sense, M. Night Shyamalan’s latest movie stars Paul Giamatti as a janitor who rescues a lady from the pool he maintains. He soon discovers that she is not quite from this world.

Will this be a fairy tale, a supernatural scare fest or something totally unexpected? We will never know what M. Night Shyamalan has in store for us and we can’t wait to find out.

  6. Poseidon:

Director Wolfgang Petersen (Das Boot, The Perfect Storm) is back out at sea again. This time, he is remaking the 1972 disaster classic of a luxury ocean liner that capsizes from a gigantic tidal wave.

We think Titanic has fresh competition rolling in with the tides. While Titanic has never been more memorable for the romanticists, it's time to see if Poseidon is able to win hearts as well with this update.

  5. Mission Impossible 3:

The mind behind hit TV shows, Alias and Lost, J.J. Abrams combined with the man who needs no introduction, Tom Cruise, we'll get the most promising installment of the espionage franchise yet.

Coupled with extreme explosives and an eclectic cast yet, MI3 is the sure-fire wham-bam action flick of the year!

  4. X-Men 3:

Why not join the mutants, who we've grown to love, good or bad, hand-in-hand as they take the last stand against the government? Afterall, this is the concluding chapter to the trilogy and it has the biggest number of mutants assembled thus far.

The promise of a big bang finale at the culmination of the movie guarantees a spectrum of special effects. We’ve been forced to take our side, theirs.

  3. Superman Returns

It seems a long while since Christopher Reeve last saved the world. It has been for too long since Kal-El watched over us. The time is here and it is now. Brandon Routh takes over the role, paying a posthumous tribute to Christopher Reeve and we can’t wait to see if he can lift off in this role.

We think the ‘S’ emblazoned on his suit also stands for ‘Success’!

  2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

A voyage on the seven seas with quirky pirates galore is bound to be a journey of adventure! Reprising their respective roles, Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are guaranteed tantalizing reasons for a watch, don't you think?

The sequel to the 2003 runaway summer blockbuster is a non-stop swashbuckling ride on the high seas combined with a supernatural element. Ahoy and all aboard to our Number 2 pick!

and our Number 1 pick for this year’s Summer Blockbusters goes to ...

*drum rolls*

The Da Vinci Code

Despite being a bestseller and long before A-listers signed up for the movie adaptation, The Da Vinci Code has long been embroiled in controversy.

Nonetheless, when the likes of Tom Hanks, Jean Reno, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina and Paul Bettany teamed up with director, Ron Howard to bring the book to the big screen, we could hardly find a reason to NOT want to watch it. Plus, we can’t wait to find out the link between the murder in The Louvre and Da Vinci himself.

Without a doubt, this is THE movie to catch this summer!
