BOB HOSKINS (1942 - 2014)

British actor Bob Hoskins, who was best known for his role as detective Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, has died of pneumonia at the age of 71. Hoskins' agent said he died on Tuesday in hospital, surrounded by family. He announced he was retiring from acting in 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Though the veteran actor has never won an Oscar in his career, the English actor has been nominated and won countless acting awards at the BAFTA and Cannes film festival. Hoskins was last seen in the fantasy adventure Snow White and the Huntsman as Dwarf Muir amd he has also appeared in Mrs Henderson Present, Hollywoodland and Unleashed opposite Jet Li.
