Synopsis :

Thierry has just met Claire. He's fallen deeply in love even though she has the only characteristic he dislikes in a woman: very white skin. Claire tries to discourage his advances but they are only drawn closer together. Thierry feels her coursing through his veins. He begins wasting away in the eyes of his best friend Henri. But when he realizes that it was Claire's sister who savagely attacked Henri in a hotel, Thierry understands how little he knows about her and her mysterious blood ties.

Movie Review:

Forget about the vampire elements or stereotypes that everyone is accustomed to, it’s not here. Blood and gore are kept to the minimum and there aren’t any scare-a-minute scenes in this movie at all.

Instead this film focuses more on the romances between two supposedly very different people. Actually the differences between the lead actor and actress, Thierry and Claire were not touched upon until the later part of the film. The key words here are “touched upon” as this film didn’t really go into depth on how different they are too. It’s just one lovelorn boy falling hard for one strange girl, only to find out how strange this girl truly is.

Another issue that this film tried to tackle was the racial differences in this world. The racial issue was woven into this love story. It also brought forth the discovery that all race in this world originated from the black African. That mutation took place as the different races had to adapt to the different environments they moved to.

It’s an interesting concept but in this film, it was just brought on simply to explain that this new breed of vampires is the latest form of rare mutation and they had to adapt to the conditions and environment they are in. They need to consume blood but they are not exactly endowed with the curse or blessing that most vampires are known for.

This is Director Daniel Roby’s first feature film. Although it’s not fantastic, it still is commendable in certain aspects. Some of the romance bits were well handled and didn’t feel forced, partly due to the moody ambience created by the choices of scenes and usage of soundtracks.

Just remember, it’s not really a horror film but the love story for two very different individuals if you decide to watch it.
