Golden Horse Award Winner Ethan Juan To Promote "Paradise In Service" in Singapore

Taiwanese Heart-Throb and Golden Horse Award Best Leading Actor, Ethan Juan, will be coming to Singapore on 27th to 28th October 2014 to promote his upcoming film, PARADISE IN SERVICE.

PARADISE IN SERVICE, directed by Doze Niu Chen-Zer, is Ethan Ruan’s first movie after completing his national service in Taiwan and his third time collaborating with Doze Niu (Love, Monga). All three movies achieved outstanding box office performances in Taiwan. After two years preparation and with the huge investments of NT250 million (approximately SGD10 million), this epic movie has been regarded as the most representative movie of the era. This highly-acclaimed movie is selected as this year’s opening film for the 19th Busan International Film Festival.

PARADISE IN SERVICE is a compelling movie based on real historical events in China and Taiwan during the 1950s-1970s. It sets to explore the immense impact the war could cause on two different generations. This visually mesmerizing film will keep you emotionally engaged throughout. Set in the island Kinmen (often seen as the most dangerous military base because it is geographically close to China), PARADISE IN SERVICE follows the adventure of Pao (Ethan Juan) who serves his military service in Unit 831 from 1969 to 1972, in preparation for a war that could erupt anytime. Through an unlucky lottery draw result, Pao, a young man in his twenties from Southern Taiwan has to serve the military in the remote and perilous Kinmen. Moreover, he is assigned to the Sea Dragon (ARB), a unit known for the toughest physical training. It never occurs to Pao, however, that the greatest challenge is not his military training but a special task he is later appointed to. He later becomes responsible for managing the Paradise In Service bar, a brothel within the military camp. In this peculiar assignment, Pao vows to keep his virginity against all odds.

The movie also stars Taiwanese beauty Ivy Chen Yi-Han, rising star Regina Wan Qian and the highly-acclaimed Chen Jian-Bin (Best Actor Award at the 2011 Seoul International Drama Awards and Golden Phoenix Awards).

Ethan Juan has risen to fame in recent years, appearing as lead actor in prominent TV series and movies. Upon winning the Best Leading Actor at the 47th Golden Horse Awards based on the role as “Monk” in Monga, it further serves a strong testament to Ethan’s acting skills. This movie is Ethan’s most daring performance in his acting career.

PARADISE IN SERVICE is co-distributed by Encore Films and Golden Village Pictures in Singapore. It is scheduled for release on 6 November 2014 in Singapore.
