FIFTY SHADES OF GREY: THE ALL-TIME BIGGEST OPENING WEEKEND FOR R21 TITLES

The highly anticipated movie Fifty Shades Of Grey dominated Singapore’s box office on Valentine’s Day weekend with the biggest 4-day opening weekend box office of all time for R21 titles.

Released in Singapore with no cuts, Fifty Shades Of Grey earned over $900,000 from 25 screens from Thursday – Sunday since its opening on February 12, taking over Gone Girl as the all-time biggest weekend box office opener for R21 titles

“We are thrilled by the amazing box office results despite the high censorship rating. Fans have obviously rushed to see the film, making it the hottest topic in town. Non-fans, not wanting to be left out, have also joined in the frenzy to experience Fifty Shades Of Grey for themselves.” says Nicholas Yong, Managing Director of UIP Singapore.

Fifty Shades Of Grey is adapted from the bestselling book by E. L. James which has become a world-wide phenomenon. Stepping into the iconic roles of billionaire entrepreneur Christian Grey and curious college student Anastasia Steele are Jamie Dornan (television’s The Fall, Once Upon a Time) and Dakota Johnson (The Social Network, 21 Jump Street).

Fifty Shades Of Grey is now showing in cinemas.
