AH BOYS TO MEN 4 SCORES BIGGEST OPENING WEEKEND FOR AN ASIAN MOVIE THIS YEAR!

AH BOYS TO MEN 4 (新兵正传 IV) has collected a stunning SGD $2 million at the box office over its 4-day opening weekend (from 9th to 12th November)! It is the biggest opening-weekend for Asian movies this year, beating Jackie Chan’s KUNG FU YOGA, which collected SGD $1.4 million when it opened during Chinese New Year.

This result also surpassed performance for the first installment AH BOYS TO MEN 1, when it collected SGD $1.5 million after its opening weekend in 2012.

To show their appreciation for the audience’s support, the ‘AH BOYS’ will be making special hall visits this coming weekend at various cinemas! Details of the hall visits will be announced via the official AH BOYS TO MEN Facebook page

The fourth installment tells the story of the ‘AH BOYS’ returning for their in-camp training. After completion of their full-time national service stints, they were all busy with their respective careers as civilians. When they are called back for in-camp training in an SAF Armour unit, they must juggle between work and their duties as operationally-ready national servicemen. Hilarious situations happen when they are back training together and their military roles reversed. New enemy threats arise as their brotherhood is put to the test.

Best-selling local franchise AH BOYS TO MEN 4 (新兵正传 IV) finally hit the big screens yesterday after keeping audiences waiting for the movie since its last installment in 2015! Directed by Jack Neo, AH BOYS TO MEN 4 collected an amazing SGD $310,000 on its opening day over 85 screens island-wide! The 85 screen-count also marks the widest release for an Asian film in Singapore!

This box office result is almost 30% more than the same result of AH BOYS TO MEN 1 back in 8th November 2012 five years ago. AH BOYS TO MEN 2 and 3 were released during the Chinese New Year period.

AH BOYS TO MEN 1 grossed SGD $234,000 on its opening day and went on to collect a stunning SGD $6.2 million at the end of film’s run. Then, it broke director Jack Neo’s very own best-selling movie MONEY NO ENOUGH, which grossed SGD $6 million at the end of film’s run in 1998.

Looking at the pace that AH BOYS TO MEN 4 is going, the movie looks set to break the SGD $2-million-dollar mark over its opening weekend to become the best-selling opening weekend Asian movie of this year.

Director Jack Neo says: “We are very pleased that the AH BOYS TO MEN franchise is still loved by many Singaporeans! We have been through many setbacks and hardships making this sequel. I cannot be more grateful that the movie is still popular and I just hope that people will continue to support AH BOYS TO MEN 4.”
