3688 TOPS THE OPENING WEEKEND BOX OFFICE CHART FOR A LOCAL FILM RELEASED OUTSIDE OF CHINESE NEW YEAR THIS YEAR!

Local acclaimed director Royston Tan’s latest feature movie 3688 tops the opening weekend box office chart for a local movie released outside of Chinese New Year this year!

3688 collected SGD $191,000 from 17th - 20th September and performed better than other local movies in their opening weekends including 1965, BRING BACK THE DEAD, etc.

3688 opened last Thursday on 22 screens islandwide.

Highly anticipated local movie 3688 is finally unveiling its teaser trailer! Directed by local director Royston Tan after a 7-year hiatus since his last feature film, the teaser trailer for 3688 will definitely strike a chord with audiences who watched and remembered Royston’s previous works such as 12 LOTUS in 2008 and 881 in 2007!

The movie centres around a parking attendant named Fei Fei who always dreams about becoming a singer like her famous idol and namesake - the legendary Taiwanese singer Fong Fei Fei. Fans of the late singer will definitely recognize one of her classics in the teaser trailer effortlessly!

3688 stars local singer Joi Chua, who is making her big screen debut; getai legend Liu Ling Ling; theatre actor Michael Tan; veteran Malay artiste Rahimah Rahim and introducing popular YouTube star Shigga Shay. 3688 is also a celebration to Singapore’s everyday heroes, such as kopitiam workers, taxi drivers and ‘summon aunties’. The film also harks back to the 1980s when Rediffusion and Fong Fei Fei’s songs were part of Singapore’s landscape.

LOCAL DIRECTOR ROYSTON TAN'S "3688" SET TO HIT LOCAL CINEMAS IN JUNE 2015!

mm2 Entertainment, Chuan Pictures and Golden Village Pictures are proud to announce the latest feature film helmed by talented local Director Royston Tan titled 3688 (想入飞飞)! He is back after a 7-year hiatus with this musical comedy, which is his 5th feature film after making “15”, 4:30, 881 and 12 LOTUS.

With a production budget of SGD $1.8million, the movie tells the story of a parking attendant Fei Fei who always dream about becoming a singer like her famous namesake, the legendary Taiwanese singer Fong Fei Fei 凤飞飞. However reality sets in and she gives up her dream. After all, she has an elderly father with dementia to support. Finally, Fei Fei follows her heart and joins a national talent contest. She climbs her way up to the finals, but on the final day, her father mysteriously disappears.

3688 is a celebration of Singapore’s everyday heroes, such as kopitiam workers, taxi drivers and ‘summon aunties’. The film also harks back to the 1980s when Rediffusion and Fong Fei Fei’s songs were part of Singapore’s musical landscape. The movie has commenced filming earlier in November and is slated to be released in June 2015, in conjunction with Father’s Day!
