HUSBANDS IN ACTION (남편들) (NETFLIX) (2026)

SYNOPSIS
: "Husbands in Action" is an action-comedy film that follows the chaotic, unpredictable mission of Si-nae's ex-husband, Choong-sik, and her current husband, Min-seok, as they begrudgingly team up to rescue her after she's been kidnapped by a dangerous criminal group. Helmed by Director Park Gyoo-tae, known for his hit comedy "6/45", the film throws the mismatched pair of men into a frantic, off-the-rails mission. Jin Sun-kyu and Gong Myung, the dynamic duo behind the box-office hit Extreme Job, reunite: Jin Sun-kyu stars as Choong-sik, a hot-headed cop who charges into every case, including the mission to rescue his ex-wife. Gong Myung plays Min-seok, the younger, gentle veterinarian and current husband, determined to save his beloved wife. Kim Ji-suk joins the cast as Do-joon, the leader of a new drug gang, while Yoon Kyung-ho plays Yong-gang, a rival gang leader determined to reclaim power. Kang Han-na stars as the kidnapped wife Si-nae, while Lee Da-hee plays Hye-ran, Do-jun's wife and a key figure in the drug business. Jeon So-min rounds out the cast as Ah-ra, a determined journalist chasing a scoop.

MOVIE REVIEW:

You might not be familiar with the name Jin Sun-kyu, but chances are you’ve seen him before in films such as Extreme Job, Amazon Bullseye or Confidential Assignment 2: International. The prolific supporting actor finally takes on a leading role as tough cop Choong-sik in Husbands in Action.

Starring opposite Jin is his Extreme Job co-star Gong Myung, who plays Min-seok, the husband of Choong-sik’s ex-wife, Si-nae (Kang Han-na). When Si-nae and her young daughter are kidnapped by a drug lord, the two husbands are forced to team up to rescue them. Thrown into the mix is Yong-gang (Yoon Kyung-ho), a gangster whom Choong-sik once put behind bars and who is now determined to reclaim his criminal empire.

Husbands in Action is a chaotic buddy comedy that doesn’t really hold up if you think too deeply about it, simply because its characters are exaggerated comic caricatures. The husband-and-wife drug lord duo isn’t all that evil after all, while Yong-gang is little more than a washed-up fossil left behind by the times. As for the two romantic rivals, they’re here purely to generate endless hijinks and laugh-out-loud moments.

Credit goes to director Park Gyoo-tae and his regular collaborator, writer Kim Jong-hyun II, for packing the film with one outrageous and hilarious set piece after another. Their non-stop barrage of over-the-top comedy ensures that you won’t mind spending a little more time with Choong-sik and Min-seok. The chemistry and constant bickering between the ex-husband and the current husband are an absolute delight to watch, and both Jin Sun-kyu and Gong Myung deserve plenty of praise for bringing that dynamic to life.

The energy throughout the film is relentless. There are endless foot chases, exhilarating car stunts that would make the Fast & Furious crew proud, and even an absurd amount of extreme sports thrown into the mix. The funniest sequence easily comes when the two husbands find themselves trapped inside a freezer by Yong-gang. You’ll simply have to see it to believe just how ridiculously funny it is.

Despite being a straight-to-Netflix release with a modest budget that occasionally gives the film the look of a TV production, Husbands in Action remains an entertaining watch from beginning to end. The action is solid, the performances are consistently enjoyable, but it’s the comedy that truly steals the show.
